Job Satisfaction Among Nurses Research Proposal

Job Satisfaction in Nursing Related to Generational Differences

The research methodology that will be used is the observational research method since it will involve a phenomena being observed and recording of information acquired. It will also be largely qualitative in nature since it will be dealing with attitude on nursing as a career and the effect that the generational gap between the varying generations has on the attrition levels. This method will also allow the use of interviews and focus group studies unlike the other research methods like experimental methods that would be rigid on this.

Techniques of data analysis

Since this will be analysis of one variable, lack of job satisfaction among nurses, the grouped data approach will be most efficient and convenient in analysis of the collected data. There will be a use of drawing out of patterns in the responses that will be received through the various data collection. This will enable the drawing out of general feeling and attitude towards the nursing profession and the reasons behind the varying attitudes. There will also be the use of qualitative comparative analysis that will allow for the depiction of the varying reasons behind why the current generation would prefer or not taking up nursing. There will also be an inductive approach to this analysis where an emergent framework will be employed to group the data and the relationship in the data highlighted.

c. Rationale for the chosen technique

Since this research will mainly deal with qualitative data, it is the relationships formed within the framework that will be of greater significance to the research hence the indicative approach will allow the researcher ro set out a trend that is formed and also understand the relationship being formed between the attitudes towards the nursing profession and the reason behind those attitudes.

d. Interpretation of analyzed data

The interpretation of the data will basically look at the link between the objectives and the findings as well as the hypothesis at the start of the research. The interpretation will be guided by the literature review that shall have been done. The interpretation of the personal encounters and the answers in the questionnaires will be analyzed to see if they agree with the existing literature. The interpretation will also be facilitated by the look at the assumptions of the study that shall have been indicated prior to collection of the data.
